I don’t know why I’m humbled by this. They’re obviously doing it to keep their business/money, but it really is nice to see so many humans finally working towards the same cause. I always think about how much more advanced we’d be as a species if all of us worked towards one goal, rather than having self-awareness get in the world. A global utopia. The closest we have/will come to that, I suspect, is the Internet. The amount of people protesting SOPA alone supports that. On here, we help each other constantly, using links, pictures, information - everything. We support and assist complete strangers without even knowing it. This cannot be replaced, and if it is gone, the world will truly be a sadder place. The Internet is a step towards understanding and acceptance, towards real peace, even. SOPA is 10 miles back from that.STOP SOPA.
For the love of the internet and all that has brought so many people and events into our lives!
If SOPA happens, a culture dies. I hate the concept of Internet censorship or SOPA/PIPA because it’s an enormous part of who I am, my humor, and one of the places I feel most accepted. SOPA is the death of the Internet. There would be nothing left for me, nothing left for many of us. No amount of amendments will ever make this bill acceptable, and it affects so much more than just the Americans who are passing it. If you support SOPA, the only thing you’re supporting is corporate control. There is so much more to life than that.
I know I’m reblogging something that was reblogged from me, but it’s worth it for the comment added.
STOP SOPA.
For the love of the internet and all that has brought so many people and events into our lives!
